Last week I shared a collection of my all time-favorite, top 10 friendship songs. Today, I want to share another song of sisterhood with you. Count on Me by Whitney Houston and CeCe Winans is in a league of its own. I cannot listen to it without getting goose bumps. How precious is the friend who says, “You can count on me. We’ll get through this. Just don’t give in”.
Local to the Charlotte area? Please join me for grace*ologie’s September brunch and mini-conference, Sisterhood: Embracing Biblical Friendship. We will have a conversation about God’s plan for connecting and cultivating authentic and lasting friendships.

Friends can help each other. A true friend is someone who lets you have total freedom to be yourself – and especially to feel. Or, not to feel. Whatever you happen to be feeling at the moment is fine with them. That is what real love amounts to – letting a person be what he really is. – Jim Morrison
I had a wonderful time with lots of fabulous ladies at the July grace*ologie gathering! View the event photos here.
The Sigmon Stringers are a fantastic three-generation bluegrass band from Newton, NC. Two of their members, Ray and Randy, so kindly shared their wonderful talents with me on my album, Trouble the Water. The band will be playing The Spring Bluegrass Festival at the Historic Murray’s Mill in Catawba, NC on Saturday June, 8. If you are nearby – stop in to hear them. You’ll be glad you did!
The great thing that strikes you on looking back is how quickly you have come-how very brief is the span of life on this earth. The warning that one would give, therefore, is that it is well not to fritter it away on things that don’t count in the end; nor on the other hand is it good to take life too seriously as some seem to do. Make it a happy life while you have it. That is where success is possible to every man. – Sir Robert Baden-Powell
As I move forward toward 2013, I’ve spent the last several days organizing my life, packing up the remnants of 2012, and reflecting on the highlights of the past year. I’ve realized that the best and most important moments are those that are lovingly shared with others and those that are an expression of our hopes and dreams. God is good. Here are some of my highlights from 2012. What is on your highlight reel?
My son’s Induction Day at the Naval Academy. I was so proud and worried!
Weekends with my grandson doing cool grandma stuff.
Going back to grad school means spending time with my favorite gamecock (and sharing her meal plan).
Recording and releasing my first album – a dream come true. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE being in the studio!
The cd release party was a blast!
The grace*ologie events are always a blessing.
A brother and sister reunion. (In the backseat of mom and dad’s car we quickly regressed back to our childhood!) I miss these guys.
My friend, Donna, has the heart of an artist. I love her free spirit and how she embraces life with an open spirit of joy and expectation. She is always discovering cool stuff. I love it when she shares her inspiring, beautiful (and sometimes wacky) finds with me. Today I am sharing one of our favorite videos, “happy people dancing on planet earth”, with you. It features Matt Harding dancing with people from all over the world. I hope it brings a smile to your face and joy to your day!
